Giorgio Beverly Hills
Now part of the P&G Prestige Beauté division, the Giorgio Beverly Hills brand began its iconic life in 1961 at 273 Rodeo Drive. The store had a bar, reading room, and pool table so that men could entertain themselves while women shopped. The white and yellow striped awning featured in Giorgio Beverly Hills’ logo came to represent the Beverly Hills lifestyle as we know it today. Founder Fred Hayman bought out the company from co-founder George Grant in 1962, and in 1981 launched the first cologne by Giorgio Beverly Hills “Giorgio.” This cologne marked the entrance of Giorgio Beverly Hills perfumes and colognes and prompted Avon to buy the label in 1987. 7 years later, the Giorgio Beverly Hills fragrance brand was acquired by Procter and Gamble and combined with other luxury fragrance brands such as Hugo Boss and Otto Kern in the P&G Prestige Beauté division.
