Designer Ralph Lauren began his career working for famed fashion juggernaut Beau Brummel in 1967. While Lauren's name is attached to many different product lines and design types today, his first project was designing men's neckties. His creativity and ambition convinced the manufacturer to allow him to start his line, which he called "Polo" after his interest in sports.
